It seems that it was just recently that I held you as a tiny baby in my arms. Now you are five years old – practically a young man! I honestly do not know where the time has gone.
This past year has been another one filled with so many memorable moments. You continue to grow and learn and develop in every sense. You are messy, delightful, beguiling, silly, stubborn, and overall, quite a character (I guess the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree)! You currently have a love of drawing, paper airplanes, and anything chocolate. What’s more, you are full of surprises.
Though you are still improving your verbal skills, you continue to make progress, and I am so proud of you for that. Just a few days ago, it was you, in fact, who gave me a special gift. We were snuggling next to each other one evening, and you put your little arm around my neck and told me in your sweet voice, “Te quiero.” There are no words to describe what that means to me.
The most important thing to me overall is seeing how compassionate you are towards others and even-tempered you are. I could not have asked for a sweeter child. I think of you, and no matter what kind of a crazy day I am having, you bring me happiness and comfort.
As I reflect back on these past five incredible years with you, I remember a special song that I used to listen to again and again when I was pregnant with you, a song that gave me hope and overwhelmed me with love for you each time I heard it, “Beautiful Boy.”
“Before you cross the street, take my hand.
Life is what happens to you when you’re busy making other plans,
Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful, beautiful boy.”
No matter what age you are, you will always be my beautiful boy. I love you so much!
